: TOOLS explores the formal relationship between surgical instruments and jewelry. I developed a series of kinetic sculptures that translate the functional logic of medical tools into objects associated with luxury, ornament and display.

The project began by looking at surgical instruments as designed objects rather than purely functional tools. Their precision, mechanisms and highly specific forms became the starting point for developing a new sculptural language. I reinterpreted elements such as scalpels, forceps and clamps through the codes of jewelry design, transforming their proportions, functions and interactions while retaining enough of their original character to keep the association recognizable. The sculptures were conceived as kinetic objects, using movement to reveal mechanisms and relationships between individual components. Digital set design and animation allowed me to develop these objects as a coherent system, controlling form, material, movement and presentation as interconnected parts of the same visual concept. TOOLS uses this shift in context to examine how familiar functional objects can acquire an entirely different meaning through art direction and design.
